Aerospace Fasteners can be classified as pop rivets, socket screws, rivet bushes, clinch nuts, and self tapping screws. Aerospace fasteners help in joining materials. Some fasteners are suited to general use, while others are specific to certain materials or material forms. Aerospace Rivets is one of the most common methods of joining sheet materials in aircraft. In order o use this, a hole is drilled through the sections to be joined. A suitable sized rivet is put into the hole and the tail of the rivet is deformed so that it expands sideways and grips the sides of the hole. This helps in clamping the material together.
Aerospace rivets are available with a variety of head shapes, including mushroom, snap rivets and countersunk head rivets. Where access is available to only one side, blind rivets are used. Blind rivets are hollow rivets and they are set by drawing a mandrel through the hollow rivet from the same side as the head.
